Short company description:
The Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida is a vital support system for our nonprofits. It offers services, programs, and information resources for 350 members while advocating for the Northeast Florida nonprofit sector locally and at the state level. It provides local government, civic and business leaders, and the media insights and information to promote smart decision-making and public support for local nonprofits
What is the most important lesson you’ve learned over your career?
That you don’t have to have all the answers to be an effective leader. Some of the best work happens when you ask good questions, surround yourself with smart people, listen carefully and create the conditions for others to contribute what they know. Leadership is much more about building trust and alignment than having every answer yourself.
What nonprofit do you have a heart for and how do you support it?
It’s nearly impossible for me to choose just one — my career has given me the privilege of working alongside so many incredible nonprofits across Northeast Florida. I have a particular heart for organizations meeting basic needs and creating opportunity for people who might otherwise be overlooked. Today, I’m fortunate that my role at the Nonprofit Center allows me to support hundreds of organizations by connecting leaders, strengthening their capacity, elevating their work and helping our sector tackle challenges together that no single organization could solve alone.
What’s your favorite way to get involved in the community?
My favorite way to get involved is by bringing people together who might not otherwise be in the same conversation. I love connecting nonprofit leaders, businesses, philanthropy and community partners around a shared challenge and helping move a conversation from “someone should do something about this” to “what can we do together?”
If you could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?
I’d want to be remembered as someone who brought people together and left things stronger than I found them, organizations, relationships and the community I was fortunate enough to serve.
